Joke line is the tree, TimeWarner is the forest

Once again Atrios points to a great blogger who has caught a member of the celebrity press corps being unusually stupid.

Going back to the early years of The Daily Howler, we have been documenting the atrocities for a decade. And in that time exactly what has changed? OK, maybe a little around the edges. We can stop lies, at least sometimes. Every now and then someone gets singed by a blogswarm. But we have not changed the ability of the radical right to dictate the terms of debate.

I think the reason is because we never go after the forest. As FAIR points out, TimeWarner has corporate relations with AIG, Health Cap, and Paratek Pharmaceuticals. We need to go after those connections. We need to start talking about TimeWarner’s conflicts of interest and how it impedes their willingness to follow a story wherever it goes.

How do you wage war against the people who own the airwaves?

I'm not exactly sure. I guess you have to hijack some airwaves for yourself.

Nothing is true; everything is permitted.

Is that a portent for the future?

I'd listen to Corrente Radio. I'd spread it around too.

In light of the recent overhaul of bandwidth/frequencies,

my guess would be you'd need a lot of local sources sending out AM sound; it can be picked up on crystal radios, which need not have batteries or power cords.

the problem would be not being in violation of the regs on power-limits, I think.

That's why repeaters...

I don't know if it's do-able, but I'm seeing them pass a signal station to station to station.... I'd be very interested to connect to people who are doing this...

You could

But I'm working on the assumption that giant server farms are not sustainable, and/or that net neutrality doesn't exist any longer. And of course, there's the whole warrantless surveillance thing.

well, for openers

you start using your blog to call them on it. I am going to start naming names and I hope others will follow.

I wonder what the ramafications would be

if we started a movement to get people to get rid of their cable. "Cut the cord for Christ", whatever you want to name it, but convince people to get rid of their cable. Of course the biggest problem with this is that most people would also have to get rid of their internet access. I cut the cable in 2002 from MediaOne (now Comcast) and never looked back, and now have DSL thru Verizon....and a set of rabbit ears, just about what TV is worth!

the recession is doing that

many people are getting rid of their cable because they cannot afford it.
