If you have "no place to go," come here!

Join us for our first HealthCare.gov Hangout!

UPDATE 5:17PM Here it is:

Adding, I've reached out (horrible phrase) to the transcriber, but they might be at work. Anybody else got mad transcribing skills? An opportunity for framing like this doesn't come along often....

[Let's play "Stump the Obots!" Stickying this so we can come up with some nasty tweets for this session tomorrow. It would be best, however, if people tweet their own tweets: 15 tweets from 15 people is a heck of a lot more effective than 15 tweets from lambert! --lambert]

Just got this mail today:

Join us for our first HealthCare.gov Hangout!

We’ll be streaming a live conversation about how you can use the
re-launched HealthCare.gov website and the new Health Insurance Marketplace call center to help you get ready for the new coverage options coming in less than 100 days.

Julie Bataille from HealthCare.gov will be joined by Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner of MomsRising*, an online and grassroots organization working to achieve economic security for families in the United States. We will also have personal stories about how the health care law will help individuals and families. You’re invited to join our conversation** too! We’ll be taking your questions submitted through Twitter.

Google Hangout Details

When: Wednesday, July 10, 2013, 2:30 – 3:00 p.m. ET

Where: Go to http://www.youtube.com/HealthCareGov to watch a live stream of our HealthCare.gov Hangout.

Tweets: Tweet your question to us at #HCgovHangout

We’ll answer questions live on air.

NOTE * MomsRising is an Obama front group whose leadership interlocks with MoveOn.

NOTE ** "Conversation" is such a tell. Can't find the link now, but operatives always want to have "conversations" with you, by which they mean, feed you talking points and have you regurgitate them. Life is a push poll to these guys.

This is insane. Show me the code. THAT's what I want.

Youtube parties. Are they kidding.

Submitted by hipparchia on

my comment was directed at the administration's timing - nothing like inviting public input during the hours when much of the public isn't free. kind of like holding elections on a workday...

Yeah, well, "Moms" don't work. Snort.

Or heck, copy, paste & do it again. The Obots do that all the time. They must think it's cool.

I'm over 55 and don't have a job. Can I get a subsidy for the Medicaid you will send me to?
I would like some help with the monthly premiums like the other folks who get the Silver subsidies. Where can I keep track of my tab for the clawback at death?

I got an error message, "You've already tweeted this item" maybe I should have pushed past it? I'll try again. I do like the idea of starting conversations though.

15 minutes 'till the Party!!

Submitted by lambert on

... so I think I won't be tweeting a whole lot -- but I want to see what they answer and what they don't!

Also, I want to know who they are -- these "conversations" where somebody presents themselves as a disinterested citizen when in fact they're hired by somebody give me a pain.

Also, looks like pretty thin crowd, unless the organizers pack it. So have at it....

I finally got in through a Google Link (!!!! not published earlier) just in time to hear Lambert's Library Question.

Did they answer ANY of the real, actual, serious questions that were posted through the day?

katiebird's picture
Submitted by katiebird on

katiebird's picture
Submitted by katiebird on

.... That is not a politically feasible idea.

Submitted by lambert on

1. I tweeted the right links, which I found, because I was very focused on being able to record. But it was not impressive that all the publicity was for the wrong links.

2. Did I call it right on "conversation" in the post, or what?

3. Happy dance that they actually took my question. Blogging on HCR since 2009 and its the first time ever.

4. What is most revealing is the questions they do not answer....

I'll see if transcriber can transcribe my vid; otherwise, anybody got a back up plan?

katiebird's picture
Submitted by katiebird on

Yours was the only question I "heard" .... What were the other questions?

What was your method for uncovering the right link?

Submitted by lambert on

... about 10 minutes before the start.

1. I found in another tweet

2. I found at the given URL, but only when feed was selected.

Unfortunately, I was after that out of touch because I was recording....

Lambert, you were reaching out to us - how? Transcriber has not caved to Yahoo e-mail blackmail and thus cannot access it. It's not easy being us. (Don't you have my phone number?)

I watched the youtube, recorded it with my semitrusty digital cam (how'd you do it?), but - where's the content? Seriously, you want a transcript of that? The best question was the young woman's with the college degree who hasn't topped $20,000 a year since working at the coffee shop (4 years), hasn't seen a doctor since 11th grade. She cannot afford health care or sick care, period. Good question, and I don't recall an answer.

Submitted by lambert on

I do have your phone number but I regard the phone as invasive and hence did not call.

I recorded it using QuickTime player, which saves a live stream to disk -- didn't know that!!!

Yes, it is exactlyl the vacuity that I wish to capture. I absolutely want a transcript of it. If or rather since there's no there there, by God I want to show that.

You can always use the Mail here to communicate --- let's go offline for logistics. I'm going to do a two part post. See top right Mail and write me a message.

UPDATE Adding, I can color-code the transcript!

I tried finding the twitter feed and could not -- despite googling eleventy combinations. I don't have a twitter account and don't know how to tweet, but wanted to follow the "conversation" and the tweets.

I can't figure out from LS and KB's posts how exactly you managed to log on to the (1) tweeting site and (2) the video of the "conversation."

Help!

What kind of serious government outreach relies on a system where the only questions that can be asked have to be 140 characters long?!?

To be fair, if the goal is not to attract any queries that require more than 140 characters -- and to only give scripted answers that come in at under 140 characters (see, e.g., the "answer" about "things take time" and "we're tweaking") Twitter is the perfect channel.

Rainbow Girl's picture
Submitted by Rainbow Girl on

Yes indeed. Looks like it was made on that program "If you can type you can make movies."

At about 06:15 minutes I note that Happy Lady Voice (could have been the Ponds girl 20 years ago) tells us that the great information about each plan option that will be available at the Supermarket (er, Marketplace) will consist of how much "it will cost each month."

No mention of that upfront disclosures for each plan at the online supermarket will include up-front all of the baked in costs of the policies, e.g. (1) deductibles, (2) major things not covered, (3) copays. Sounds like the only $$ info on the policies at the supermarket will be monthly premium. Politely, you'd have to call this a sleight of hand. I think it is much worse than that, and predict that many, many unfortunates will end up in shock when (after signing up to pay $XX premiums every month) they also find out they're on the hook for $XXXXX per year before the policy kicks in, and for XX% of covered costs ("co-payments," "coinsurance," what have you).

Gawd, I'm watching the video and shaking my head. Nothing astroturfy about "MomsRisingup.com" at all. Totally grassroots! Nothing fishy, nothing to see here folks! Move along!

Tbogg, you literarily gifted totalitarian little somewhat popular blogging fascist little turd, you. Keep on being silent about how the Democratic Party has gone Animal Farm on the Occutardian 99%. Keep pretending not to see it. As they used to say "you can fool some of the folks some of the time.."

...and then I promise to leave you guys alone.
But "they" are crying about being uninsured for 2 years? Really? How 'bout NEVER having medical insurance for decades?

How about having your bank accounts seized, so you can't pay your utility bill, and getting fired because of wage garnishments over medical bills.

2 years?

How about your whole adult LIFE? Are you epileptic? Do you know what waking up in an ambulance or the er is like? And a doctor telling you "You MUST see a neurologist" and not being able to afford to?
