California mega-farm practices led directly to the Eschericia coli 0157:H7 outbreak last month that sickened 200 people nationwide and killed three.

And remember those Georgia residents sickened with botulism toxin from Bolthouse Farms carrot juice? More people have come down with botulism from Bolthouse Farms carrot juice products, and while the company says the problem arises from improper refrigeration after purchase, they've pulled their carrot juice from stores nationwide and are researching a more "robust" process for making it safe to drink.

Bottom line: Cheap, fast and good are mutually incompatible, to the max.
