This will disappoint single payer advocates, but worth seeing.

She has great faith in exchanges ("Puts people in the driver's seat"[...of a runaway Camry?]) and the regulation idea (she would like details, but thinks it's money given to states to allow them to regulate...[Are there states w/ absolutely no regulation of health insurers?? [Regulate by wire?] Plus, something at the Fed level....).

Dr. Cohen also compared the present mishmash of Hse/Senate/WH to a starter home, and gotta start somewhere.... Better that than nothing.

Of course, that starter home could be the money pit.

Donna Smith rocks.

Doctors for America (see any similarity in this name to any other recent political "grassroots' organization?) was launched in May of 2009 -- and announced by Max Baucus.

'Doctors for America' launches

This may not wind up being decisive in the health care fight, but the organizing gap between the two sides continues to widen.

Sen. Max Baucus and the Center for American Progress Action Fund are announcing a new group on a conference call later this morning: Doctors for America, which is a reincarnation of Doctors for Obama, an arm of the Obama campaign that boasted more than 10,000 members.

The question of patients' relationships with their doctors is always a flashpoint in debating changes to the health care system, so doctors are often particularly credible messengers.

Today they'll "release new reports detailing the depth and breadth of America's health care crisis and announce a new effort to amplify physicians' voices in support of health care reform," according to the advisory.

While I was activating my account to issue an astroturfing alert the estimable jawbone beat med to il.
I was going to post:
Great discussion on healthcare! Donna Smith is awesome as ever but her counterpart Dr. Cohen sounded a little pre-programed to me;
so I Foogled her organization "Doctors for America" and got:
"Doctors for America, is a nonprofit organization that grew out of Doctors for Obama, which worked to help elect the president. But it also appears to be working closely with Organizing for America, Mr. Obama’s political organization."

That's called 'Astroturfing' -

the talking points seemed too pat by half. I put it up in hopes that someone would do the research. Also thanks to lambert or whoever resized that for me.

As annoying as it is, it is well to have a look at them in action.

Should you check out the link, scroll down and view the pics. E.O.F. captured one of Obama "going for the gold" so to speak. I thought I saw it when watching the summit, but thought "Nah, he wouldn't pick his nose there!". But he went for it!!
