I agree with your sentiment, but in all seriousness, I had sex before the age of 18, and I would have liked to have had sex with an attractive adult woman before I was 18, but never had the opportunity. I don't think I would have been damaged by such an encounter, either. I think there is a big difference between sexual encounters between young males and older females versus young females and older males. This has to do with the differing impact of the sex act to each gender. Historically, the male sex act has been used as a weapon (see, e.g. the rape of the concubine, or other instances just from the Bible alone). Thus, when adding an age disparity, it is more egregious when an older male has sex with a young female. However, for the same reason, it is less egregious and violative when a young male has sex with an older female.
Is that a sufficiently staid and serious analysis of the issue, without resorting to sophmoric vulgarities? I've thought about this a lot.

Normally, I wouldn't care. It's all about consent, which is exactly what the authoritarians and the Christianist
loons don't get. But somehow, I don't think that the base is going to take the same attitude with Mrs. Roberts.
There's also the issue that Mrs. Roberts was in a position of some authority over the 18-year-old--I imagine a lot, given the dynastic nature of the Roberts family--so the question of whether the consent could be real would be colored by that. That's why I frame the issue as abuse of power, because that's the common thread in all the authoritarian scandals.
