In the garden: The first poppy
More surprises from the wildflower mix. (Actually, I wonder if they picked the red, white, and blue color combination for July 4.)
Last summer I remember trying to photograph poppies in a different part of the garden in the bright sun, and the red just blew out the iPad's camera; all I got was a blur.
Fortunately, today we're catching the edge of the Polar Vortex (which might not even be a thing, just a normal cold front) and so it's cloudy, and the poppy photographs better, though it still looks a heck of a lot better on the iPad's retina screen than it does as a JPG. So much subtle detail lost, and the blossom nodding in the subtlest wind.
