Howie Hawkins raises $50,766!

More than his entire 2010 campaign! Granted, that wouldn't pay for a rubber chicken dinner in the Beltway, and Cuomo has a $33 million war chest, but heck!

A Wall Street Journal/NBC 4 New York/Marist poll released last week found Cuomo leading Astorino by a 59 percent to 24 percent margin. A small percentage of voters surveyed — 6 percent — said they support Hawkins.

But as Hawkins points out: 6% is what Jesse Ventura started out with. And Howie Hawkins has a better platform.

UPDATE More on Hawkins:

But Hawkins says his modest success demonstrates his support among working people.

My supporters often apologize for not being able to contribute more because of a recent layoff, involuntary part-time work, low wages, medical bills, or rent that keeps rising,” Hawkins said in a press release.

“But they dig down and contribute something anyway because, they tell me, no other candidate for governor is speaking up for working people.”
