Holder's Hold 'Em strategy: sneaking justice in... or out?

vastleft's picture

According to Newsweek, Eric Holder's employing some sort of close-to-the-vest maneuver — either to sneak some accountability into a corrupt culture, or to suavely grandfather the lawlessness:

Republican opposition to Eric Holder faded away Wednesday after the attorney general designate gave private assurances that he did not "intend" to target CIA officers who acted in "good faith" when conducting harsh interrogations of terror suspects.

But Holder's assurances, offered to GOP Sen. Christopher Bond, were carefully qualified—and left the door open for him to approve expanded Justice Department inquiries into agency interrogations once he takes office, according to White House and congressional aides who asked not to be identified talking about private meetings.

Either way, as a troubadour once sang, "it couldn't help but make me feel ashamed to live in a land where justice is a game."

are not the ones that should be targeted. Let's go a bit higher on the ladder, shall we? Maybe, all the way to the top.

Hopefully, Holder didn't make any promises about them.

I was going to add that to my comment.

I still want those prosecuted who gave the orders.

The ones who followed them can be given permanent vacations.
