Hillary as SoS: "Women’s rights and empowerment... key to the foreign policy of this administration"
Meant to flag this a couple of days ago, but it's still great. Obama's Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton:
“Reproductive rights and the umbrella issue of women’s rights and empowerment will be a key to the foreign policy of this administration,” Clinton said in Houston, where she received the Margaret Sanger Award from the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The award is named after an early 20th- century activist for birth control.
Great to hear this said. This goes beyond "mere sanity as a baseline" to an actual promise of change.
Of course, we'll be waiting for the follow-through to make sure the good words don't get compromised away, but the words are good to hear anyhow.
