Hey, Elizabeth Warren, keep fighting the good fight

Thanks, BDBlue, for linking to Yves at Naked Capitalism, who linked to this in the New York Times, http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/02/busine...

Elizabeth Warren has no power but the bully pulpit, and Elizabeth Warren is using the pulpit on behalf of us little people. My favorite part:

Meetings with Treasury officials so far have made her question whether they understand that “household financial health is profoundly tied to the economic health of the nation,” she said. “You cannot repair this economy if you can’t repair those families, and I’m not sure the people directing the bailout see that as their job.”

“Any effective policy has to start with the households,” she said. “Years of flat wages, low savings and high debt have left America’s households extremely vulnerable.”

Yes, indeedy, Professor. Keep swinging. And keep talking. And if the MSM tries to shut you up, you call me and I'll get lambert with his mad skilz working for you.

Question: If I send two smart women each fan email in less than a month, does that make me a crackpot?

P.S. Smart is hot. Yes, I know it's inappropriate to mention, but brainy women get me all shivery. Even straight women think smart women are hot; they just hide it by telling each other that they find smart gals "so interesting."

Henry Ford had some real quirks, but understood his workers had

to be paid enough to afford his products for him to be successful.

Today's Banksters and their sycophants seem to believe the world is made for the uberwealthy and somehow they can suck up all the money, stiff the workers, and their world will be just A-OK.

In the current MCMer meme about autoworkers, if those dastardly unionized workers didn't have decent wages and healthcare coverage, then everything would be just hunky dory. Why can't they see they don't deserve what they worked so hard to achieve? By unionizing! The temerity! If lots of workers don't get good wages and heathcare, how dare they think they deserve it? After all, how can the "economy" support such largesse to the workers?

Largesse is meant for the uberwealthy and their sycophants! Get with the program. Isn't it obvious that the uberwealthy can be supported only bcz there are relatively few of them? And the workers, why, there are millions and millions of them! They simply must learn how to live with less. There are limits you know. Workers with low co-pays on their health insurance? Why, what is the world coming to? Don't they know their place?? Thai workers don't have that kind of life... so get a grip and tighten your belts, workers. Things have changed, and so must you.

And those Dems better learn on which side their bread is buttered--and begin standing up to those rapcious and selfish unionized workers and get behind the hard working, highly deserving Big Banker Boys (and their MCM supporters).

Seriously, bless Elizabeth Warren and her great efforts. Too bad she only gets quality time on Bill Moyers' Journal.... Plus, the odd appearance on NewsHour.

I heard an economist from Case Western on KUOW

(local NPR station) say that labor costs constitute 10% of the cost of a vehicle. And the $70/hour wages is pure crap. http://www.tnr.com/politics/story.html?i...

And would someone please explain to me what it is exactly the talking heads actually produce? What do they create that brings value to the marketplace? Is it cuddliness? I mean, we don't call Chris Matthews "Tweety" because he squeaks, right? Is he selling comfort? Is he selling the profound feeling that TV watchers are smarter than everyone on television and paralyzing them from doing anything to stop the bloodshed, theft, and general creepiness of our nation?

And Olbermann? What is he selling? With the amount of spit that dude generates, he could rent himself out as a sprinkler.

FTR: I stopped watching teebee awhile ago, but trust me---Olbermann's spitosis exists beyond television. Hey! There's a drought in the southeast. Let's airmail him to the desert.

And yet...here is Elizabeth Warren talking to the NY Times when she should have her hour of power on a network so people can hear someone fighting and questioning. There are heroes and Warren appears to be one.

Okay, I'm a crackpot. I sent her an attagirl email.

P.S. And Ford was a nutbar racist. That's way beyond quirky. But he was absolutely right about paying workers decent wages.

Hey, she wrote me back

Okay, she just said, "Thanks very much and I'll do my best." Still.

This is more thrilling than the day I saw Donnie Osmond at the Salt Lake airport.

Oooh I'm jealous

Her talk at UC Berkely on the collapse of the middle class is riveting and distressing and could generate a long and interesting thread on the failures of feminism among other things.

It definitely altered my view of things and gave me a lot to think about. An hour long but I never got bored. And I normally hate TV.

Policy not party!

Ohio,

Care to share the email address for Eliz. Warren? And, yes, smart women are very hot.

Yes..please share

email address for Warren. Thanks

you crack me up, ohio

i've emailed lots of Famous People, and i'm no longer surprised by how many of them emailed me back. they put on pants one leg at a time like the rest of us, and many of them sit around and google their own names, to see who's saying what about them Out There.

smart is hawt. i agree on that 1000% percent. which is why i'm always jealous you're taken. ;-)

CD, I blush and ewarren at law dot harvard dot edu for the rest

Well, that can be attractive, too.

Yes, I know about famous people. I even used to be vaguely semi-famous enough to have my very own stalker. We called him Foot Smell Guy. A story for another day.

But I am a crackpot despite what my B.O.O. sweatshirt says, and if these people knew how much of a crackpot, they'd run far far away. Regardless, I decided I was sick of sternly worded letters and decided an attagirl would at least perk up people doing what I like.

The good Professor Warren is going to catch a buttload of hell if she keeps speaking up. But I want her to speak up and if I can make it a little more bearable, I will.
