Rita has made it to Category 5:
"The storm whipped up winds of 165 miles an hour, 10 m.p.h. higher than the 155 m.p.h. that distinguishes a Category 5 hurricane, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Hurricane Katrina, by comparison, was a Category 4 storm when it devastated parts of the coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama on Aug. 29."
