Help with my Latin homework?

vastleft's picture

On general principles, and possibly for a T-shirt at some point, I wanted to translate a short slogan into Latin. Vestiges of two years of bad grades in high school Latin aren't getting it done.

The phrase: "I am a liberal, therefore I am not a Democrat."

The closer the phrasing is to "cogito ergo sum," the better, methinks. Any Latin aficionados out there?

Sum liberalis, ergo non Democratus! The problem being that 'democrat' is an adjective, so this might be translated to mean 'I'm liberal so I'm not democratic'. Having a capital 'D' might help.
