Will we get the single-payer system we all need and want but are afraid to admit? Or will we have to settle for a leaky Massachusetts-like "public plan" that emboldens a bigger Corporate Takeover of Our Health Care than we have now (if that's even imaginable)?

Nice round-up!

Since the polling continues to show strong support for single payer, why the f**k is Dean saying this?

"What I like about Barack Obama's plan is he's a realist," Dean said, adding that private insurers aren't going away and that polling shows people are generally happy with their private health care -- if they have it. He said it should be all about giving people a "choice" of signing up for a public option, but "on the other hand, you don't want to take something away either."

My elderly neighbor celebrated the day she was out from under

her work related HMO and got on Medicare. She actually held a little party!

She'd been frustrated in not being able to stay with doctors she'd been seeing for decades when her business went with various HMO's, changing providers as costs grew too high. She kept having to find new docs.

This is hardly unusual.

The good Dr. Dean is being a good little political soldier. Too bad he 's not out there trying to "make Obama do it [single payer]."

This reminds me of bush and tax cuts

When bush insisted on pushing tax cuts on us, most people didn't want them. They understood the need to get rid of the deficit, they wanted it paid down.

Bush pushed the tax cuts through and now we're paying for it.

Who are these people that are happy with their private healthcare. Are they the people that work for the insurance industry?

Obama is pushing through a nonreform "reform" of the health insurance system. We won't get health care. We won't get not for profit. We won't get anything useful out of this garbage. We'll get stuck paying increasing amounts to the health insurance industry. America will be increasingly less competitive in the global economy since business will have to provide health insurance here unlike other industrialized countries.

I'm so sick of hearing this is all that is possible. We have a majority in both houses, soon 60 in the senate, and the presidency. Too bad there are very few democrats among the lot of them. Even fewer with backbones or convictions. And that includes the post partisan wonder and his magic unity pony. I'm tired of what the pony leaves behind getting shoveled on us.

thanks

I have given up trying to understand Howard Dean.
