Health care diversion alert

One of the things we are going to have to be on guard against is diversionary tactics, in many cases coming from the left. Example A:

Universal, single-payer health care cannot take flight within the first 100 days. The groundwork, however, must be laid immediately. The new administration must:

* Expand the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), as proposed by the Democratic Congressional leadership in 2007.[17]
* Establish a commission to draft legislation for universal, single-payer coverage. Plan for a one year drafting period, followed by national town meetings and hearings. Aim for passage before the midterm elections.

Universal healthcare CAN happen in the first 100 days. We have a comprehensive plan already written and good to go, it is known as HR 676 and it has 93 cosponsors, including THREE committee chairman. The biggest obstacle facing this legislation is defeatism coming from our putative allies.

The ground work for this legislation has been laid form years. It has the support of a broad coaltion, demonstrations all over the country.

Please write a letter to the editor in support of HR 676 and sign up with the single payer organization in your area.

DC, they can't and won't listen. I'll craft my letter, thanks.

I love this job!

I love this job!

Perhaps try pushing that we can't afford NOT to do it

Because about half the people that go bankrupt do so because of medical bills, and that leads to foreclosures.

Put in universal health care, and many foreclosures will not happen, stopping at least some of the bleeding.
