The General, responding to an invite from a telco lobbyist to a net neutrality "blogger's summit":
I'm very eager to sit down with you and negotiate away my readers' ability to access my blog. Who needs them anyway. They're always demanding things like real words, spelling, grammar, and compelling stories. You know, shit like that. I'd be happy to have you take my bandwidth so Disney can stream their lineup of wholesome programming featuring hot 13 year old girls onto my computer 24/7. It beats the hell out of writing every day.
Indeed.
But what makes him think there's a negotiation going on?

Is it just me...
or are the loudest voices in the blogosphere who are opposed to net-neutrality the same people that are obsessed with bandwidth-wasting crap like their own radio shows, and "Branded" video "programs?
And while the General doesn't seem to have succumbed to this tendency, its pretty weird watching Greenwald and Marshall and the whole FDL crew complain about net-neutrality being under assault so that Disney can make Hannah Montana more easily accessible, when they can't get enough of bandwidth wasting vanity projects like their own "internet radio" shows, TPM-TV, and the untimate abuse of bandwidth, bloggingheads TV.
Even granting your premise...
... I'd still prefer almost anything to Disney. But it's a good point.

If I wanted to "watch" or "listen" I wouldn't use a computer
We already have television and radio. Why waste bandwith on something that's been around longer than I have?

Actually...
I get almost all of my baseball and pretty much all of my TV series watching done via computer (as I refuse to get cable TV*). Bandwidth-chewing, in the case of the baseball, but...
I happen to think mlb.tv is pretty neat.
*So I have something in common with Howard Dean? Hmm.
