Lambert has alluded to this post a couple of times in passing, but I wanted to make sure it was included in the FITH
Watch archive (to which I'll be linking in my next post), as it's one of the classics of the genre: Americablog's "Shameless HiIllary blames all of us for her sick 'assassination' remarks on Friday, which have redefined the Macaca moment."

What about Obama's suicidal remarks?
I mean, the man constantly compared himself to Lincoln, JFK, and MLK, claiming their inspirational stories as reasons why he chose to run. Guess what? All of them were shot and killed! That's just as batshit.
Honestly, I know it's wrong, but I want to forget it all. Just the other day I remembered that teenage girl who, as a little girl, had been used in the footage that would later be in the "3 AM" ad. She discussed how she was a staunch Obama supporter, even though she couldn't yet vote, and how she was terribly upset by the apparently racist ad. That this girl thought that is bad enough, but that NBC actually interviewed her as if her opinion mattered was worse. It set up this image of Racist Hillary vs. Poor, Little Girl.
The fact the vast majority of Democrats bought the misogynistic, CDS narrative is so damn upsetting and demoralizing. I honestly feel as bad as I did back in December 2000 and November 2002.
Most Democrats didn't
buy into it.
Hillary received more votes during the primary and if you buy the exit polls, she won easily among registered Dems.
Hillary?
You mean the "Bumbler of the Year"?
Amazing, the WSJ and others don't give themselves credit
Isn't it? It's almost like she "lost" all by herself. Of course, what she actually did accomplish--the greatest number of votes in the history of the Democratic primary, the first woman to win a primary, to win a caucus, etc.--gets lost in the shuffle.
Votes not necessarily telling
I remember thinking back to Texas where there was an exit poll (Dallas Morning News? ABC?) that showed even the majority of her voters believed her 3 AM ad was unfair and that she, not Obama, had been the one with the overall negative, "attack" ads. And that "racist" lie got repeated so much a lot of people bought it, even those that voted for her (think: Gore voters who thought he lied about inventing the web or was responsible for the Willie Horton ad).
The other widespread lie that bothered me was this image of Obama as an upstart whose defeat of the "Clinton machine" was this huge upset, rather than the obvious: Obama was the establishment (political, media) pick from the get-go.
I've been avoiding going there...
But the snarkist in me is tempted to mention it given the elaborate attempts to cast Obama as the new Lincoln.
Well, he might not be freeing any slaves, but he helped free us from the $700B that was cluttering our wallets just before the election, and not to mention that burdensome Fourth Amendment!
