The fight for single payer in Minnesota

Business lobbyists and senators face off over MN single-payer bill

As senators and business association spokeswomen debated Monday on the merits of Sen. John Marty’s proposed Minnesota Health Care Act (SF 2324/HF 2522), more U.S. companies were announcing tens of thousands of lay-offs. Mounting job losses were claimed as a talking point for those in support and those in opposition to the plan.

The bill passed out of the Health, Housing and Family Security Committee, chaired by Democrat Marty, on an 8-5 party line vote. Its next hearing will be by the Committee on Commerce and Consumer Protection.

Remember our fall back position, no solution offered by Obama/Daschle should prohibit the states from doing the right thing.

Do we let Obama off the hook? We shouldn't.
