On Edwardian Slopes, Idyllic Harmony

Feeling lonely and left out of the conversation? Tired of the backbiting and gotcha games? Sick of the popularity contest, and looking to actually talk about progressive values and solutions? That's how this place was pitched to me. I wish them luck. I'm proud to see what the former "Dean movement" has become (activists, even!) and I hope something similar comes out of the lost tribe of progressive Edwards supporters. Read below the fold...

slogans, dammit, give me slogans!

You know Hillary is a bit...busy...at the moment
She can't be bothered right now to reinvent
EVERY GODDAM WHEEL

It takes presence of mind to have devine inspiration
At least for us...mere mortals...it does.
She needs all her smarts out there on the stump.

I say Hillary could use some bigger better brighter slogans
and we're all bright kids here
we can come up with...bumper stickers & lapel pins.

We can do that.
"So cough'em up for Hillary!"

(well, okay...THAT one is not so good...)

But I do like mine: Read below the fold...

Lessig Tossing His Hat in the Ring

Lessig wants your attention and money for CA-12. I admit I don't know much about this guy, but everyone around the progblog universe is chatting him up, so there it is. More and better, and all that. Read below the fold...

Responding to Paul on the Primary Process

I have to do this quickly, but here are some thoughts that spring from this post Paul was gracious enough to inspire.

I'm sure that since Avedon has been gifted with so many bras ...

... from grateful readers and fans that she--making an assumption, here--can simply wear one and then throw it away. So, she wouldn't even need to know how to wash a bra.

But I could be wrong.

In any case, I like the idea of a "How to" wiki.

And besides, maybe the directions are wrong. Readers? Read below the fold...

Consultants, or Vampires?

I read (forgive me if it was here, I can't remember) recently some cute anecdote about Gavel and a regular person who met him early on the campaign trail. He made the mistake of saying that he'd work for Gavel, when what he really meant was to be polite and show some support to a guy he knew was never going to get anywhere in the Presidential race ("be allowed" to get anywhere...) So he was chagrined when Gavel said, "Great! You like me? How about running my campaign in your state?" Read below the fold...

Open Minds: Hillbama Fans Convince Me

(Update or you could answer the charges in this post if being positive is boring to you.) So tomorrow is the Big Day, and the SCLM will tell me who gets to run for president. Yawn. But in the spirit of "we've all got to get there together," I'm going to retire for a while from bitching, and honestly open my mind to ideas and evidence in support of the Democratic ticket that is to come. My money is on Hillary/Obama, place on the reverse, and Obama/White guy to show. Read below the fold...

When Normalization Is Good – Meet The Mechanical Pot Dealer

Thread:

Because I’m already done with mourning Edwards, enough already, and because thanks to Dick Nixon and his heirs there are plenty of worthwhile battles to choose from, here’s a bit of creative thinking that deserves a smile and an Atta-boy if nothing else. Out here on the West Coast, where the future lies, one of our clever entrepreneurs has found a way to marry high-tech with common sense and compassion – medical marijuana from a vending machine. Secret Meeting in the Snowfort Only for Grrlz

All my energy to go out and have fun got sucked out of me today by the need to Be Dutiful, and so I'm not going dancing tonight. But I'm not a complete looser: I'm going to make candles later instead. Peaceful, craft-driven, functional...I love candle making. I recycle my used wax as well as that of my friends; for some time now, despite burning one or two almost constantly, I buy very little in terms of 'new candle' material as a result. I'm also into the whole "essential oil" silliness. Lemongrass is my new fav. Read below the fold...

A Manifesto for Hillary
