Check out Obama's new online ad.
Obama’s denial of Keystone XL tar sands pipeline permit was an easy decision, for now
While the current Keystone XL permit application is dead, the pipeline might not be. The administration will allow TransCanada to reapply for a permit after it develops an alternate route around the Nebraska Sandhills, a sensitive habitat.
TransCanada’s chief executive, Russ Girling, issued a statement saying that the company will reapply and that he expects that “a new application would be processed in an expedited manner” so the pipeline could be carrying crude by late 2014. “While we are disappointed, TransCanada remains fully committed to the construction of Keystone XL,” he said. …

How Stupid?
Very stupid. Obama's new TV ad demonstrates that. The Republicans in Congress that set up his decision are way stupid, too. They thought that they could force his hand, but he slapped them down and will be re-elected because liberals are dancing in the streets that he is an environmentalist. When he is re-elected and then approves the pipeline, what are the liberals going to do? Same thing as they did after 2008 - "Oh, he is opposed by those mean Republicans and he can't do what he really wants to do."
I read an interesting phrase recently: "If denial is a river, it runs through doomed societies." Fitting words, indeed.
Since I believe that both parties...
...are sleeping in the same bed, I don't believe for a minute that the Repugs set him up - it was simply another tactic related to raising the debt ceiling while letting both sides look "tough".
Obama, the Dems, a Repug candidate and the Repugs themselves - SSDD.
They really do think we're stupid - and sadly, we usually prove them all to be correct.
The really sad thing is
a lot of people are going to eat this stuff up.
I haven't watched Maddow in months, but I can only imagine what her & her followers' reaction to this might be.
Anybody who's ever worked against fracking...
.... or landfills know all about the permitting process. Of course they had a Plan B all teed up.
Bill Moyers said he "did a brave thing"
in staring down the oil companies. Moyers worked for Johnson. Is he really drinking the Kool-Aid?
Ooooh!
Hilarious - you made my afternoon, MM! Thanks!
