Uhmmmm, errrr, uhhh, ehhh...... McCain.
I love this job!
The candidate...
...who says "there you go again" first, wins.
I'm waiting for McCain to say..
"Senator Obama, I want you to know I won't hold your youth against you."
[don't remember the exact Reagan quip but it was devastating to Mondale as of course he had to laugh along with the crowd laughing at him.]
I will bet, however, that:
1. Barry will at some point offer effusive praise for McCain's long service and patriotism (or some equivalent bi-partisan crap) and,
2. At some point during at least one debate, gratuitiously praise Ronald Reagan; and,
3. He will say he is a Christian and prays.
Just gut feelings right now, but since they're all in red and purple states, Barry won't be able to resist the Reagan endorsement and the nod to Christianists.
Side bets:
a. Barry will be pushed to back track about his latest Choice ads and he will express accommodation to those anti-choicers who are hurt by them and the mere fact of a woman's right to choose;
b. Barry will, at some point, admit that, yes, that he really did say the surge is working beyond his wildest dreams.
I have some extra pennies in my unused poker bank to put on these bets but I don't think I will lose..

There Will Be Very Few Policy Bullet Points
both candidates have essentially run personality-based campaigns and neither candidate is particularly adept at discussing policy detail nor do either seem to really want to. Obama will be slightly more policy focused since it benefits Democrats, but I expect overall for this to be the most policy specific free debate series perhaps ever.
And the media will love it.
Obama'll do badly, then complain
endlessly that they were unfair for some reason.
Predictions
1. McCain will swipe: "I know Joe Biden. Joe Biden's a friend of mind. Senator Obama, you're no Joe Biden."
2. Obama will somehow slip in more than once that he has a white mother from Kansas and an African father from Kenya. McCain will comeback with "did I mention I was a POW?"
3. Obama will most certainly get flustered and exasperated going into his high voice with the "see, they think you're stupid line." McCain, against common knowledge of him, will keep his calm and smile his creepy, little "oh, bless his heart" gremlin smile throughout the whole damned debate.
I've seen some OFB members who are absolutely convinced that Obama will rip John McCain apart. Having seen them both work in debates, it's quite clear to me that it is Obama that better be scared.
If anyone saw what Juan did to the overconfident Mitt at the Reagan library debate, that how I picture these things going down. John has a way in which he ridicules his opponents that makes them look so small. He doesn't come out unscathed, himself, though. I remember watching that particular debate wanting to see John go after Mitt, and then wishing he'd quit because he was so brutal.
