If you have "no place to go," come here!

I was totally geared up for another round of 12-word platform, now that the insanity has receded to a dull roar, when a local civic engagement opportunity came up.

It seems my town is planning to cut down a very large tree to create a parking lot. I almost got inveigled into tearing down a "No Trespassing" sign at the edge of the future parking lot, but then the inveigler and I discovered that the sign, and the yellow crime scene tape blocking the area off, had been torn down. So lots of people are ticked off. Not sure where this is going to go, but I guess I'll try to get up early enough to take some pictures of the tree being cut down tomorrow. (Some PR genius in this operation decided to re-schedule the feedback meeting from yesterday, when the tree had not yet been cut down, 'til next week, when it will have been.)

So, exciting. I remember somebody -- raise your hand if it was you -- explaining that each level of government handled different functions, and politics at the local level is all about land use. I guess I'm going to find out how bad it gets.

A couple of blogs covered these new "private exchanges" late Spring and/or early Summer.

If I were a "betting person," I'd bet that this is what Mr A's corporation will go with [eventually].

Who knows, I might wind up blogging about this by the end of this year.

Finally, Mr. A's gotten word that the Benefits Dept is getting ready to start the first round of conference calls, prior to this year's "open enrollment period."

At this point, I just wish that they'd get it over with!
