Chimp Victim May Be Brain Damaged

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Yes, we have been immensely damaged, collectively and individually by the chimp that occupied the WH for the last eight years. And if the concept "national brain" means anything, we can safely assume that it has sustained horrendous damage.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) -- A Connecticut woman mauled by a chimpanzee two weeks ago lost her hands, nose, lips and eyelids and may be blind and suffering brain damage, and hospital officials say it's still unclear if her condition can improve at all..

And it's similarly unclear that our nation will ever recover, physically, civically or financially.

The 200-pound chimp was shot and killed by police. Police are still deciding whether its owner, Sandra Herold, of Stamford, will face criminal charges.

Regrettably, the parallelism breaks down at this point.

Can we be human, please?

The "chimp victim" is a real, live person who likely will be severely disabled as a result of her injuries. I think it's a little dodgy to use her here as a prop in your comments about Bush. (I'm also not big on assassination insinuations, either.)

I agree with you that there should be investigation after investigation of the Bush years, and prosecutions would be great--but can we leave this injured person out of it?

Yeah, I'm a little iffy on this one, too

I see the metaphor, but it's not like the woman is a public figure. Or a bankster. Maybe that's inconsistent.

Lambert, it's exactly why

the original post is offensive. The woman mauled by this animal didn't deserve what happened to her; she, and her surviving friends / family, shouldn't be mocked by comparison of her fate to the nation's.

After all, despite everything everybody from Molly Ivins to yours truly had to say for YEARS about the outcome, the US voters did, twice, bring W within reach of the Presidency.
