Asheville, NC - People from all over western North Carolina protested here in Pritchard Park, June 27, to demand a single payer system in which health care is provided to all people, with those able to paying their fair share.

This town hall forum will discuss bringing down health care costs and expanding coverage. This discussion is especially critical for working families and businesses that need lower health care costs to create and maintain jobs during these tough economic times.

Health care woes cannot continue

The system is, if not completely broken, severely damaged. If you pay for your own health insurance, you know exactly what I am talking about. The average single American pays around $500 to 600 a month for coverage and usually with a high deductible. Insurance and healthcare costs have sky-rocketed in the past few years. If we, the American public, want change, we must be the change.

I urge everyone to contact their representatives of both the House and Senate and voice their support for H.R. 676.
