"After the Boston Bombings: A Police Chief for Peace" by Ruth Conniff
As the fog of our perpetual "war on terror" descended again after the Boston Marathon bombings, veteran police chief David Couper reflected on the dangers of loose explosives, why we should resist militarizing the police, and how cops who serve as "social workers in blue" can do more to keep us safe than SWAT teams and "police officers who look and act more like robots than peacekeepers."

Why is this question even being honored in America?
Apparently it will be posed seductively soon in a theater near you.
Torture is wrong. It is evil.
I offer:
“Two wrongs don’t make a right.”
The Golden Rule.
The Geneva Conventions.
Basic human decency.
A while back when I read Jacob Weisberg’s book, The Bush Tragedy, I learned that the main ego-armature for George W. Bush during his Yale University years was his participation in the fraternity culture.

Jill Stein is a “citizen-politician” who refuses to behave herself.
Dr. Stein refuses to stay in the campaigning bull-shit bubble.
She doesn’t suffer fools or play the crony let’s-screw-the-99% game.

Bill Quigley has taken a hard and well-researched look at Obama’s continuation and escalation of what Quigley terms the “draconian domestic civil liberties intrusions pioneered under the Bush administration” (involving freedoms of speech, of assembly of association, to privacy, to a fair trial, of religion, etc.).
Quigley's article is a strong rejoinder to so much of the myopic, Obamacrat hype about Obama being the lesser of two evils. He only appears to be the lesser of two evils in the hypocritical talk Obama talks and guaranteed will be talking much more of in his ever-intensifying “Lucy and the football” campaign mode. Jefferson Memorial -- police state response to dancing protesters.
On May 28, 2011 Television host Adam Kokesh and several other activists participating in a flash-mob were arrested at the publicly-funded Thomas Jefferson Memorial. Their crime? Silently dancing, in celebration of the first amendment's champion; a clear violation of their right to free-expression.

Chris Floyd:
Tonight Bradley Manning is being tortured and destroyed in a prison cell because he has been accused of trying to tell the truth about war that all so-called enlightened people know: it is brutalizing, senseless, futile and cruel. He is also being tortured in the hope that he can be used as an instrument to stop Julian Assange from telling the truth about war and the corruptions of power that all so-called enlightened people claim to know.
