Canadian Election Monday - voting is IMPERATIVE! (Also: Tory majority IMPOSSIBLE! YAY!)
Primary tabs
So I don't have to talk about how important voting is on this website (I hope). Anyhow, in completely awesome news it looks like the Conservative Party of Canada is poised to take a minority again which will probably result in the stepping down of Stephen Harper (the man responsible for the precedent setting dissolution of Parliament last year like so many awesome dictators before him).
In other completely awesome news it looks like the New Democratic Party is poised to take the official opposition position. (According to the election almanac and the threehundredeight blog.)
There are lots of sites that are getting heavy traffic. Rick Mercer, Canadian comedian and talk show host organised vote mobs and has been writing comedy pieces (including this one about Harper being a hologram) and is concentrating on getting out the youth vote. Twitter hastag #youthvote has been blowing up as have #elxn41 and #cdnpoli. With all the social media and TV personality George Strombolopolis (another person popular with the youth) going heavy on the voting rhetoric because of the lowest turnout in Canadian history last time and the dire need for a change in government we're hoping to see an upswing in young voters. Over 1.5 million people turned out for advanced polling Easter weekend. I'm taking this as a good sign.
There's also an upswing in traffic at sites aimed at making your vote count. Avaaz and pairvote are all about making your vote most effective, with pairvote making sure your vote is cast for the party of your choosing in the riding where it will be more effective at unseating the CPC candidate. It even looks that a formerly safe CPC riding may be going NDP (according to that recent poll)!
Wikileaks also dropped a huge bomb this week. Go to cablegates and type in Canada and see all the new info that was just posted about the Harper regime. Nice timing Wikileaks. Props to you. (Twitter hastag #wican)
GO VOTE CANADA. If your riding's close, go to pairvote.ca and exchange your vote. I already voted, but anyone in my riding not voting for Libby Davies is wearing a diaper on their head (and should actually be required to do so by law since any other vote is a throwaway).

Oh, Canada!
Congratulations! Perhaps some of your commonsense will "trickle down" to us poor benighted citizens down here in TrumpLand.
Boy, I've been waiting
for this election, and hoping Canadian voters would reject austerity politics. We badly need an example on our border to show that the Austerians are full of shit.
