Presenting: the 23/6 cheap-ass Halloween costume (23/6)
Stuck for a costume idea this Halloween? Worry no longer. All you need is a pair of scissors, a piece of string, and an overweening disregard for evolution and birth control. It's the official23/6 Scary Mask, and it's available for download, absolutely free! Click [here] to download a PDF, suitable for wearing, framing or setting on fire.
Provided as a public service, since the Halloween mask makers weren’t able to get Sarah masks out in time. But honestly, she’s less scary to me than Barack.—Caro
Lahde Quits Hedge Funds, Thanks `Idiots' for Success (Bloomberg)
Andrew Lahde, the hedge-fund manager who quit after posting an 870 percent gain last year, said farewell to clients… ''I was in this game for money,'' Lahde, 37, wrote in a two-page letter today in which he said he had come to hate the hedge-fund business. ''The low-hanging fruit, i.e. idiots whose parents paid for prep school, Yale and then the Harvard MBA, was there for the taking. These people who were (often) truly not worthy of the education they received (or supposedly received) rose to the top of companies such as AIG, Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers and all levels of our government. All of this behavior supporting the Aristocracy, only ended up making it easier for me to find people stupid enough to take the other sides of my trades. God Bless America.''
In an aristocracy, you have incompetent people put in charge of things just because they’re related to someone with power. This kind of favoritism is what destroyed the Roman Republic and then the Roman Empire. It destroyed France, leading to the French Revolution. It destroyed the British Empire. It led to revolutions in Russia and in China. Why are we letting it happen here?
One of the reasons I like some of the contest- type reality TV shows is that they provide a way of getting recognition for people who might never receive any because of ossified and political structures designed to keep upstarts from ridiculous places like Lucky, LA and Moline, IL from interfering with the assumed natural rights of the children of the already powerful.
Barack Obama wasn’t born into the aristocracy, but has been made an honorary member. All his life, he has been coddled by powerful people who were willing to help him further his ambitions. And that makes him way too much like George Bush for me to be comfortable with the thought of his become president.—Caro
What is Biden talking about? (by J –SOM at Liberal
Rapture)
What the hell is Joe Biden talking about? “‘Mark my words,’ the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. ‘It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama..’”… How does this statement not argue for John McCain being elected? If the "world" is going to throw something at us - why not have the guy who has already been tested in office? A side note: Palin said to a CNN interviewer that "If I had said that you would have clobbered me." The CNN reporter said "You're right."
The Power We Are About to Inherit (by paradox at The Left Coaster)
Booman at Booman Tribune raises a point in a post about realignment that has been on my mind a lot lately: if the Presidential and Congressional races turn out as currently forecast, will the Democrats truly be unaware of their mandate for change and reach for too little?
My comment: HA ha ha ha ha ha ha. HA ha ha ha ha ha ha. HA ha ha ha ha ha ha. HA ha ha ha ha ha ha. HA ha ha ha ha ha ha. If we wanted a DEMOCRAT as president, we would have nominated Hillary Clinton, not Barack Obama.—Caro

The Trig or Treat snipe
on the bottom is disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.
The poster of Sarah Palin with fangs and blood is plastered around san francisco. I now carry a can of spray paint and spray them out whenever I spot one.
And yes, Caro - Obama scares me much more than Palin does. The "hope" and "unity" he seems to inspire is shocking.

trig or treat
i noticed that first thing, and had the same reaction as you. i've got a high tolerance for political incorrectness, but not on this.
FFS, Caro
You're STILL treating Berg's press releases as some kind of authority? Instead of, oh, the one-sided, self-interested pronouncements of a party to a lawsuit?
You and Free Republic. Great company!
They, like you seem to be, are under the impression that a proposed order attached to a filing on the docket means that the order is valid. But it's not valid unless the judge signs it and enters it into the docket as an order -- and if you but glance at the docket, you'll see that the judge entered only one order in this case, to dismiss Berg's claim for a preliminary injunction and request for expedited discovery. There's been no ruling on the other motions, including that of Obama to stay the discovery (i.e., the Requests for Admission) pending the outcome of his motion to dismiss the complaint, nor has there been a ruling on Berg's motion to deem those requests admitted.
OBAMA, THEREFORE, HAS ADMITTED NOTHING. Berg didn't get leave of the court to serve those RFAs, because his motion for expedited discovery was denied, and in federal court, you have to follow the court's schedule.
Stop just funneling press releases. Isn't that what people have been complaining that the press do, just act as stenographers?
De-front-paged
And the Berg material deleted. Watch the truthiness, please.

Obama's internal polls on PA show only +2:
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washingt... -- "... much buzz today surrounds the apparently inadvertent leak of an internal poll by Barack Obama's campaign in Pennsylvania that supposedly showed the Democrat leading there by only 2 percentage points -- a much-slimmer margin than independent surveys have recorded for him and one that would make the race for the state a tossup.
An e-mail from a local Obama aide expressing concern about the internal poll's findings ended up in the queue of a radio talk show host in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. He, in turn, interviewed Sean Smith, the Obama communications director for Pennsylvania.
Their chat can be heard here; as the host notes after it's over, Smith doesn't dispute that the campaign's own polling gauged Pennsylvania a tossup. ..."
"... apparently inadvertant..."
Somehow I don't think that. I don't blame them for wanting to avoid complacency, though.

Andrew Lahde for President. It's not too late.
Any person that can succinctly take down Wall Street and make a cohesive argument for legalization of marijuana is my kind of candidate. I love this guy.
I love this job!
