Stick a fork in Dole. I mean McCain. He’s done. The Village, through its Dean, has spoken:
When, on the first day of the trip, Obama stepped onto a basketball court at the air base in Kuwait and sent his first three-point shot cleanly through the basket, you knew that the gods had decided to favor him.
Yes, indeed. “The gods….” Who could Broder be thinking of?
Anyhow, since the press now picks our Presidents for us, has since at least 2000, the election is now officially in the bag. The better news?
The better news for progressives is that we can dispense with all the soft-focus, Gotham-fonted adulation and nonsense, and start holding Obama’s feet to the fire on policy and personnel immediately.
After all, if Obama can act like he’s already President, maybe we should act like he, is too. Eh?

Front page
press doesn't like losers
I think Obama was plan B, and when it became obvious that they could not install McSame no matter what, they transferred their propaganda mill to Obama. On the whole it is for the best. And yeah, a signal that we need to scrutinize Obama, ’cause no one else will.
Yeppers
The whole point was to narrow the spectrum of choice such that both candidates were acceptable to the Village. That has now been done. That’s not to say that McCain is not “worse,” but it is to say that the horse-race is no longer interesting, and that “the real enemy” is not McCain.
3 Pointers?
Gimme LeBron “King” James, he earns his 3 pointers by going to the net and drawing contact.
Don't count your chickens...
Keep in mind that the more falatial Obama’s coverage, the worse he did at the voting booth. And though its only anecdotal, my diverse spectrum of acquaintances show very very tepid support for Obama if at all.
Whether or not you agree with PUMA, if they can get more air time, I think there could be a significant tide against Obama. And if the general gets ugly, McCain can end up stomping Obama. Keep in mind that McCain was polling in single digits for much of the primary and the same dynamic that was at play in the primary will be there in the general (experience and familiarity).
down ballot
when GOP down ballot candidates are willing to be photographed with McSame, then I will believe he has a chance.
Pretty much what I'm thinking
How did liberals (and conservatives) ever get anything anyway—by pressing politicians, right?
BTW, DC, around here down ballot GOPers up for reelection were not only photographed with but also hosted events for McCain.
my mistake
must have been misled by those GOP congressmen who refused to endorse McSame.
