Boston Marathon explosive was an IED

Gawker:

An unnamed FBI official has told CBS News that at least one of the explosive devices detonated in Boston yesterday appears to have been improvised from a conventional pressure-cooker. Unnamed law enforcement officials don't exactly have the strongest record of credibility in the immediate aftermath of events like these, but federal authorities are well-acquainted with this type of IED.

It almost seems like the best and maybe the only thing we can so as a society is stop creating quite so many assholes with grudges.

It's nice that the crowds seem to have shown some kindness, though. Running toward the explosion, helping out, and in more concrete ways than tweeting or liking schmaltzy FaceBook posts.

Yes, the best we as a society can do is stop creating so many assholes with grudges. Most of us are like those people in the crowd: Running toward the explosion, helping out. We are not the ones creating the assholes with grudges. Our leaders are doing that. We are basically good people. Unfortunately we are being led by psychopaths. They have no interest in doing what's best.

That's the guiding principle of progressivism, I think - make the world a kinder place, and it will be a better place to live in. Make the people who live in your immediate area secure and prosperous, and it ought to be a lot less likely that they'll resent what you have, or try to steal it, for that matter.

If it isn't the guiding principle, it ought to be...
