Methinkth They Doth Pwotestht Too Much? Or Perhapth They Pwotesth Inthufithientwy?
No Blood for Hubris is the name:
PTSD's the game.
I see traumatized people everywhere:
They don't even know that they're traumatized. (Oh! Would that be: numbing and avoidance?)
But I am running ahead of myself (Oh! Would that be: dissociative de-personalization?).
So I stopped by Digby, who apparently had written a post in support of supporting this here Corrente here. And I was about to comment about supporting her post in support of supporting this here Corrente here.
US Health-Insurance Serf-Slavery: Massuh Knows Best
Really, I am just going to STFU
.
Because one must not annoy one's health insurance company, nor must one annoy one's current employer, who may in fact be demanding twice as much work for no more pay, because one is bound to one's job as serfs were once bound to the land, but we won't really want to talk about it because the lives of oneself and one's loved ones may depend on one's ability to STFU
.
And even though, more and more, one is encountering denial of medicines and services, in an apparent attempt to "cut costs" -- or perhaps "increase profits"? one must not talk about that.
Even though fiddling around with meds can sometimes, um, down the road, cause those who had previously been stable to, um, you know de-stabilize? Resulting in repeated, you know, hospitalizations? Which are actually more costly?
But -- I'd better watch what I say.
Then, I'll watch what you say.
Insisting on "Medicare Equality"? "Medicare for All"?
Heroic Shameless Leftie Smorgasbord du Kabuki Propaganda
I want a new pony.
I want that pony to be named "Medicare Equality."
I like this pony because I think it would work as well or better than the masterful frame "pro-life." Much as I regret its existence. It does work well, because it is hard to be anti-life. I mean, really.
Which segues into "equality."
And how Telfon-y it is. And how it confers magnificence on whatever concept it adorns.
"Gay marriage"?
No no no.
"Marriage equality"?
You betcha!
So I'm thinking: Medicare Equality.
Nice pony. Good pony. Pettable pony.
Let's get buddhist-analytic and divide thing into component parts.
Part one:
"Medicare"
Medicare? What's not to love? It's been around a long time, people like it, they're used to it, it's an old comfy shoe.
Part two:
"Die, CreditCard-Mommie die, die!!"
So I just got a notice from Capital One saying that:
"at Capital One we are committed to providing valuable customers like you with honest and open communication. Today, we're notifying you that terms of your account are changing."
"Due to the extraordinary changes in the economic environment, we're reviewing our existing credit card accounts. . . . [and] we will be changing your Purchase and Balance Transfer rate. "
After 2010 the rate will go up to 17.9%, and vary by adding 14.65% to the Prime Rate. Then, they are raising my default rate to 29.4%. It may vary monthly and will be determined by adding 26.15% to the Prime rate.
