Barack Obama, Mega Churches and The House Negroes - Somebody say Amen!

Why are there no “deep structure” organizations for African Americans. Could it be because every institution established by African Americans has been systematically infiltrated and destroyed by the government of the United States of America? What has been left in the wake are tokens – Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Ward Connerly, etc. COINTELPRO the United States’ program of “disrupting dissident political organizations” grew out of the plantation system of America. It maintained and maintains to this day that the concept of African American self determination is a “disrupting dissident political idea.” Enter the Mega Church.

When Sen. Barack Obama arrived here Friday night for a rally at the Metropolitan Convention Center -- his first trip to South Carolina as a presidential candidate -- things were in an uproar. The day before, he'd been rebuffed by state Sen. Darrell Jackson, one of the most prominent and politically influential black men in the state, in a deal that, as the late Lu Palmer used to say, "is enough to make a Negro turn black."

Jackson, also the pastor of a 10,000-member congregation, is the head of Sunrise Enterprises. The political consulting firm picked up a $10,000-a-month consulting contract with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, apparently reneging on an earlier commitment to the Obama camp.Full

The Mega Church is the Spirit of Capitalism in the new millennium. It weds corporate style Human Resource management techniques with the shock and awe of an arena concert. The west end has been replaced by a mall, Starbucks, Mc Donald’s, Subway, all the icons of capitalism ready for adoration and offertory consumption. No aisles really to speak of just movie theatre seating because the rood screen has been replaced by a Flat Screen, no ambulatory or pulpit just a stage because the show must go on. Religion has and always will be about spectacle. But don’t confuse a Mega Church with a Black church and don’t confuse the Black Church with the Black community.

While people are concerned about Obama’s chances in the south they may miss the Clintons cozying up with the love child of the Christian right, the Mega Church – the Whores of God.

Blacks will determine the winner in South Carolina, and if it came down to it right now, it would be Clinton because of the lack of exposure Obama has here," said Graham. "If Obama can win some attraction from whites and overwhelming support from black voters, he can beat Clinton."

Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.), the House majority whip, announced this week that he would not endorse a presidential candidate. Earlier, Ford and state Sen. Darrell Jackson endorsed Clinton, saying she had the best chance of winning. The men were credited with turning out a substantial black vote for Edwards when he won the state primary in 2004.

"I considered who I thought was best able to serve right now. The day after the election, who will walk into that office and be able to serve from day one?" said Jackson, who also serves as pastor of a 10,000-member Bible Way Family Life Center in Columbia. On Thursday, the Clinton campaign confirmed that Jackson has negotiated a $10,000 per month consulting contract with Clinton, according to The Associated Press.Full

The creeping encroachement of the business into the Black community is tantamount to the privatization of COINTELPRO. Instead of sending in field agents the business interest field spiritual leaders to shepherd the flock to slaughter as Darrel Jackson, State Senator from South Carolina, who pastors a large congregation and also refers to himself as a businessman, says he considers Obama a "friend" but considers Clinton "our best shot."
