A leading Senate Republican warned the Obama administration against removing chief executive officers at banks that received U.S. assistance, saying “the great fear” would be government management of companies.
“If you think that Washington can run car companies and banks and so on, well, then you’ve not been paying attention to how we’ve been doing back here,” Senator Jon Kyl said of the Treasury’s threat of management changes at banks getting “exceptional” aid.
Like Big Money and Big Auto have done such a good job!
What's wrong with these people?
NOTE It's not as if the Finance Wing of the FKD isn't acting the same way. But they're so much more subtle in the way that they say it!

Thoroughly, Truly Corrupt
That's the GOP. Wall Street threw them under the bus in the 2008 election, sending way more money to Obama and the Dems and they're still protecting Big Money. The GOP needs an issue and if they weren't entirely corrupted by the Club for Growth crowd, they'd turn against their Wall Street masters. There's still big oil, big pharma, and lots of other money out there. And if they got back in power, Wall Street would come back around.
It's politics 101. Your opponents side with a hated industry over the American public. You go with the American public (even if it's only for show and you'll continue screwing the public once you're back in power). But the GOP can't do what it politically needs to do because its such a wholly owned subsidiary of Wall Street the GOP's political needs are secondary to what's good for the banksters.
Same with the Dems, btw. BTD had a post (can't find a link) where he pointed out that the Democrats didn't do anything to earn the right to govern. They won power because they aren't Republicans. But if they continue selling out Americans to Wall Street, then they risk losing power the same way they got it.
It's beyond depressing. It's insane.

I don't know if that's actually corrupt though
Doesn't the old adage say that an honest politician stays bought?
Seems the GOP is staying bought.
Which isn't any better of course, but the distinction is important.
Of course you'd think the Dems would realize that standing against Wall St would be the way to ensure future success, but they are FKD now, so that's all that matters.
To them, to the American public, not so much.

Insanity
The GOP is a special kind of crazy, aren't they? I hope they continue to place their death-grip along the railing of the Titanic. Gotta' keep up appearances, right?
But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...
