Jimi Hendrix was a better guitar player than me.
And he had bigger hair, no doubt
Hendrix was a better, more interesting guitar player than just about everyone, so take heart.

Symbolism, like a rubber ball to a cat
endless fun to bat around.
MJS, do you see yourself and other bloggers as being on the watchtower? With the princes? Above the barefoot women and the servants?
I always pictured those of us on the political Left as outside, in the cold distance, howling with the wildcats and doggedly riding towards an assault on that castle of comfort and privilege, bent of taking it down against all odds, bound together in that quest because otherwise there is no relief, pressing forward even though many may mock us because to them life is but a joke.
There are other interpretations:
Tell me yours.
Watchtowers are not just for the messianic crowd
bio: the headline was a nod to all of the "watching" that bloggers have done and continue to do, no more no less--it's a description, not a prescription. Also, any excuse to look at Hendrix will do--I never presume that droppers-by to Correntewire have had enough of Jimi's art. Perhaps a newbie will get a first taste of Hendrix because of posts such as this one.
I viewed the youtube posted in bio's comment, right up to where the man with the white collar mentioned "people feeling hopeless, spiritually vapid." His religion is a major reason for spiritual vapidity in the world: by reifying and making dogmatic what are mythological themes they have poured cement over the ineffable and call it good. I am of the earth: what is this spirit thing, this abstraction that is never produced? One can say any dumb fucking thing one wants to (I know this because I do it all the time) but that old saw is a rusty cutter.

Father Whosis explains all
Only put that up for a laugh. If your range of humor extends to the absurd, go look up his entire youtube collection. For me, a real knee-slapper.
Absolutely agreed on Jimi; never enough.
