I can't stand those that publically politically manuever natural and man-made disasters. Dan Fowler's comment reminded me of McCain's manager/strategist that told a media outlet that another terrorist attack would be good for McCain. Even if these things are true, that so many's minds go to how these things will help or hurt a particular candidate or party is just disgusting, to me. On another board I belong to, there is a whole thread devoted to how good Gustav will be to Democrats, and the so-called enlightened Obamaphiles are having their usual circle-jerks describing the "best" scenario. *ugh*

Wow, I always thought you and Holden had such similar styles that you'd long since justifiably praised his running-tally posts. His obsession with the Gaggle is great, but I really like his Your President Speaks! series, I think it should be collected for posterity in one o' them print-book thingies.

If no one now can be a smart ass or be flip and goof around with shady humor, and especially if we can't make mock of the religious nutjobs who see God's wrath in every natural disaster and disease when it suits their authoritarian purposes, then much has been stolen from us.

UPDATE: SCGOP Chairman Katon Dawson has released the following statement: “The outrageous behavior of two of the Obama campaign’s highest profile supporters in the south is despicable, a cynical politicization of life and death. I call on Barack Obama to immediately denounce Fowler and Spratt and demand sincere apologies from these members of the Democratic leadership.”

South Texas and far East Texas still remember Rita and TS Allison.
Far as I know Dallas/Fort Worth -- the big towns in the Crawford area -- haven't had a firsthand brush with a 'cane in more than a decade. Evacuees, yeah. Sending folks to help, you bet. High winds and heavy rains lasting more than a day or two? Um, not so much.
