Annals of career "progressive" idiocy

Steve Benen:

[I]t's hard to change three decades of a prevailing political ideology in 16 months -- and in the midst of multiple crises.

But the president is giving it a shot. "The last 16 months seem most similar in scope to three other periods in the last 80 years," Leonhardt noted, identifying FDR's New Deal, LBJ's Great Society, and Reagan's conservatism as the three benchmarks of the 20th century.

Electorally, the next question is whether the beneficiaries of the shift will punish those laying the new foundation.

Gee, Atrios seems not to be running Wanker Of The Day any more.

Is there a reason for that?

NOTE For Leonhardt, Yves has two words: "unadulterated propaganda." Of course, the midterms are coming up, so it's important for career "progressives" to put their stewardship of the Ds in a good light....

I'd say Obama's doing a splendid job of changing the prevailing "Democratic" ideology - I no longer recognize it, so I'd say there's been a lot of change in 16 months; I may need to start thinking of him as a kind of President Kevorkian. Liberalism is on its last legs, the democracy is, in my opinion, starting to gasp more than a little - the only difference is that the real Kevorkian didn't help make the people he assisted sick.

I do think people will look back on the Obama era as a benchmark, but it's not the kind anyone ought to take any pride in.

Some days I would give my left arm for some rose-colored glasses.

What utter crap. These "progressive" Obama bloggers (e.g. Digby, Booman, Yglesias) have no shame.

And I follow Booman to see what instructions the borg have been given. About a week ago the Dear Leader instructed his bots to start getting ready for campaign season by running around waving pom poms and declaring victory. Hence this ridiculous pom pom waving. Most progressive Dem since FDR. Bah Humbug.

The sad thing is that this propaganda has power. The progressive blogs will make sure to catapult this crap and may succeed in totally neutering the left within the Dem party.

Who am I kidding. Mission Accomplished. The progressives have already neutered the Left. To stay in their party one must be totally ineffective (see e.g. Kucinich).

I pick "Obama is like Reagan" for 2000, Alex!

Sadly, "progressives" now think this is a GOOD thing.
