Action Alert: single payer rally in Jersey City
Supporters of a national single-payer healthcare system, also known as Medicare for All, will hold a rally in Jersey City's Journal Square at noon Saturday.
While Medicare covers everyone 65 and over, a single-payer system would extend Medicare coverage to everyone.
“At present, we have 47 million people in the United States with no health insurance, and another 50 million people are underinsured, meaning that they cannot get the treatment they need because of the costs for co-pays and deductibles. That’s a moral outrage,” said Bill Armbruster, a spokesman for Northern New Jersey Healthcare-Now, one of the organizations sponsoring the rally.
The more we are told that single payer is hopeless, the more people are attracted to the single payer cause. At some point the numbers will start having an effect.
