Best that I can tell, Ron Paul doesn't want to be President. He wants to be Führer.
Not that there's anything wrong with that...
I've got to dig out a New York Review of Books article I read sometime this year (behind the pay wall unfortunately) about how the slave power was trying to extend slavery to California -- because of the gold rush (think South Africa...). Puts the lie to the slavery would have died an natural death thing, which was the mother of all dog whistles to the lunatic base.
