I subscribe to Amped Status and got this e-mail from David DeGraw yesterday. I thought it might be of some interest to folks on this board:

Happy New Year! Whose Year? Our Year!

As most of you already know, I’ve been having discussions with OWS organizers around the country about many different projects and what people’s ultimate goals are. It’s been incredibly overwhelming and it’s impossible to keep up with everything anymore. As you all know, this movement is a relentless 24/7 battle and it is incredibly hard to get people to work together and agree on much. We’re all drowning in an inspiring and beautiful tsunami of anarchy. So, like most of you, I’m trying to figure out what exactly I should focus my efforts on, what is the most constructive goal to work towards. After a long personal internal battle / shitstorm, aka my own mental spokescouncil meeting ;-), building a decentralized network of working groups around the country that are dedicated to ending corporate personhood and getting money out of politics is going to be my focus.

We can work at the local / municipal level to get laws passed, as LA and Vermont and Montana are, with the ultimate goal of building a groundswell and momentum to get a constitutional amendment passed. How exactly we achieve this goal and what the exact terms / laws are can be hashed out in all the working groups. We can then effectively organize mass direction actions, projects, media campaigns, events, etc. etc.

Ultimately, there are so many vital problems / issues that this movement is addressing and pushing into mass consciousness, but, in my opinion, until we address the rigging of our government through legalized bribery, nothing significant and lasting is going to be accomplished. Also, this is one of the very few issues that most people in the movement agree on and it has broad support across the political spectrum. There are already many groups within the movement that are working on this front.

We can then set up a website and facebook page requesting mass support ASAP.
