911 Victims: Terror Threats
I know he's an attorney, but this is really all you need to know from this story:
"We have not asked the government to give the 9/11 victims one single thing they didn't provide to Moussaoui's lawyers," Motley said.
Whatever you may believe about Moussaoui and his guilt, it makes no sense to believe that American victims of the crimes of 9/11 don't deserve a sense of closure and the right to rest easily knowing the guilty have been held accountable. Part of that is the exploration of the domestic legal issues, such as whether or not the airlines properly engaged security measures to prevent or minimize terror attacks. I don't know the answer to that question and frankly neither does anyone, mainly because of the bullshit conflation of corporate "rights," national security, and the Assministration's need to cover its own ass. MIHOP, LIHOP or undecided, you have to believe that this argument is utter crap:
In their motion, prosecutors argued that the aviation security documents are specially selected materials provided to a small group of attorneys cleared to handle sensitive evidence in the Moussaoui case.
"The government never contemplated this material would be disclosed more widely for use in private civil litigation," the motion says.
Yes, because only Bush-approved legalists should have any access to information about the worst attack ever on American soil which just happened to occur on Bush's watch. Whatever.
As flawed as they are, the courts are often all citizens have to redress government, beyond force of arms or protest. I sincerely hope the nonparticipating 9/11 families get their day.
